Every act of creation is first an act of destruction. Pablo Picasso
my canvas
The act of painting allows one to really examine life. In my opinion it is one of the most challenging and rewarding action. In my case- I am fascinated with the simplicity of a still life for a few reasons. The first my grandmother once said that not everyone can paint what sits in front of them- because that would mean you have to abandoned what you think you know about those objects. In theory it seems simple in reality it proves to be a mission that also involves self discovery. While my latest endeavor has a concept- it is in its simplest form a still life. The second reason it allows me to deconstruct forms and translate what I am feeling in the brush stroke. The third reason continues to teach me patience. Patience as I wait for the oil to dry. Patience to not push the delicate caressing of the painting. And patience with myself that it will turn out just the way I had envisioned.
Here is to patience- and not regretting paint strokes....celebration of life.
